About WMS Firearms Training
WMS provides unrivalled bespoke shooting training for private individuals, groups and shooting professionals. We operate from two sites in the UK; 4,500 acres of upland in the county of Ceredigion in Mid Wales with shooting out to 1,700+ metres; and at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley, Surrey, including on the famous Stickledown and Century ranges, and the challenging Chobham Ridge range with shooting out to 1,000 metres. WMS also runs professional firearms training for zoos and wildlife parks, conservation charities, airports, polar guides, expedition travel companies, NGOs and British government departments. WMS is owned and run Andrew Venables, Managing Director and Lead Instructor, and Helena Venables, Commercial Director, supported by a team of professional instructors including technical specialists and former British Army snipers/trainers. Andrew, who has 40 years of experience in firearms training, believes in empowering clients to shoot accurately and safely through tuition tailored to their experience and learning style. In an acknowledgement of his experience Andrew was appointed as the first international Blaser Academy instructor in 2014. Andrew also provides management and consultancy services on its regard to wildlife conservation, management of feral species, lead-free ammunition, range design, construction and operation, and commercial rifle shooting projects. Helena Venables manages client liaison and logistics, social media and marketing, corporate days and events, day-to-day business management, financial management, and special development projects. A keen rifle shot herself Helena also assists Andrew and the instructor team on some range days and is particularly interested in encouraging more women into shooting sports.
