About Wolverhampton City Credit Union

WCCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with nearly 10,000 members who own and control the credit union through a democratically elected board of directors. Our mission is simple. It is to give our members a brighter financial future by providing ethical, honest, friendly and fair service. We do this by using our members’ savings to fund loans to our other members at fair and reasonable interest rates. The interest that gets paid back from the loans is used to fund a return on members’ savings. Unlike the big high street banks, we don’t have shareholders - so everything we do is for the benefit of our members. By encouraging saving that gives people access to affordable credit, we’re playing an important and practical part in financial inclusion that in turn helps to stimulate local economies. Wolverhampton City Credit Union is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and authorised and regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority who regulate all the banks and building societies. We’re also a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and we hold a Consumer Credit Licence that is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.
