About Women Helping Women of SW Ohio
Women Helping Women is a social justice agency with a mission to prevent gender-based violence and to empower ALL survivors. Founded in 1973, WHW is committed to prevention and expert crisis intervention and support services for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. In 2021, Women Helping Women provided 26,083 services to 7,051 survivors and trained 4,982 community members thanks to the many donors and community leaders standing with us and supporting our work. WHW helps survivors find hope, healing, and empowerment through these confidential support services. Programs & Services WHW’s comprehensive services and programs offer a unique and innovative approach to gender-based violence, working in cooperation with our local government, schools, and area restaurants to create a safer future for our region by pairing intervention and prevention. Intervention Services - 24 Hour Crisis Hotline through call, text, and chat - DVERT – 24 Hour on-scene with police response to 911 calls for domestic violence - 24 Hour Hospital Accompaniment - 1:1 Walk-In Crisis Intervention - Support Groups - Court and Law Enforcement Advocacy for protection order hearings and criminal court Prevention Programs - Prevent & Empower education program is an evidence-based, interactive 5 to 10 day curriculum program for schools or youth-serving organizations that explores the difference of healthy and unhealthy relationships, sexual assualt and harassment, consent, and bystander intervention. - It’s On Us Bar Training aims to educate bars, breweries, and restaurants owners, managers, and staff about gender based violence. 23 Cincinnati-area bars, breweries, and restaurants have participated to date. - WHW developed the WorkStrong™ corporate training program to address workplace issues surrounding gender-based violence. We believe that every person in our community deserves to live a life free of violence and to thrive.
