About Women in Tourism
Women In Tourism (WIT) is a membership organisation created in 2015 by a small group of destination leaders in Scotland to inspire, motivate, encourage and support women across the sector, while advocating for greater gender balance across leadership roles within the industry. For an annual subscription, WIT members have access to a mentoring session, a skillswap, a dedicated smartphone app, regular e-communications, discounts on WIT events and added value member benefits. Women in Tourism delivers networking events with panels and industry speakers on themes pertinent to the tourism industry such as skills and leadership, and has just commenced a series of shorter, informal WIT Wednesday events. The Women in Tourism board and members are passionate about the Scottish tourism industry and recognise both the challenges and opportunities for women within the sector. While created in Scotland, the ambition is to deliver continued development and establish recognition as a global example of best practise, with the creation of international ‘Chapters’. This will result in a global framework for mentoring, inspiring and developing future female tourism leaders.
