Wood & Chisel was founded in Vienna as a sales representative for companies producing oriental marquetry. The main factory in Syria for which we are a reseller has a longstanding history of employing some of the best craftsmen in the City of Damascus. Meticulous skill goes into hand cutting and laying each piece of wood and mother of pearl to produce the finest marquetry art in this region. Using Syrian and American walnut wood and mother of pearl from the Philippines they create superb hand made inlaid furniture . The quality of precision workmanship and uncompromising standards have always been our bases of successfully exporting these goods worldwide. Perfectly proportioned and finished as they are they add a touch of luxury and the unique atmosphere of Arabian Nights – 1001 “Alf layla wa-layla” – to homes and workplaces alike. Rich in the traditional designs of a culture that honors beauty in all things these hand carved furniture and boxes become true pieces of art.
