About Workshop Houston
Workshop Houston has provided free, hands-on, after-school programs to students in Houston's Third Ward for over fifteen years. We empower young people to be creative and independent learners by providing access to innovative, project-based learning opportunities in a safe, inclusive community. Our organization offers middle and high school students four unique studio/classrooms in which they can explore their creativity and develop technical skills: the Beat Shop (music production), the Style Shop (fashion design/production), the Discovery Shop (STEAM lab) and the Scholar Shop (tutoring/academic). In 2014, Workshop was awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award by First Lady Michelle Obama.
