About World Headache Society
The WHS wants to create a future where every patient has a quick, clear and accessible route to effective treatment for head, face and/or neck pain. We are building that future by providing the highest quality headache medicine training at the lowest possible price to all licensed clinicians (not just neurologists). To find the shortest path to global equity the WHS prioritise areas of the world that have historically received less attention and investment in these areas. WHS courses include regular online 'grand rounds' and 'open house Q&A' to provide an escalation route to expert resource for those who may not have such resources locally. We also partner with other organisations to improve research and information availability in the fields of head, face and neck pain. Our global network of Regional DIrectors and Country Ambassadors provide a constantly expanding, dynamic and resiliant professional team of clinicians and students. All members are encouraged to contribute to as well as benefit from the sharing of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. WHS Advocacy teams lead engagement and representation of those who suffer from acute and/or chronic headache and engage both employers and voluntary organisations to deliver educational materials and advice directly to patients. The very latest development to increase the value base of the WHS is the launch of it's own 'open access, free to publish' journal - "Headache Medicine Connections". WHS people have enquiring minds and the desire to overcome challenges, inequality and impediments to progress. Because we span the globe and cover remote locations we do a large amount of our collaboration online. Our Country based Chapters offer an additional local, physical prescence. The WHS is independent and impartial; its core activities are not funded by pharmaceutical sponsorship; so we can explore and consider cultural. traditional and cutting edge solutions to provide our holistic body of knowledge.
