About World Radio Switzerland
World Radio Switzerland, affectionately known as WRS, is the only mainstream English-language radio station in Switzerland. WRS is available on DAB+, Swisscom cable, mobile apps and via http://www.worldradio.ch. With its mixture of live presented programmes, local contributors and the BBC World Service WRS is the premier resource for Switzerland's robust international community, Anglophones and the thousands of native Swiss in Deutschschweiz and Suisse Romande who enjoy English-language media. In 2012 and in 2013, WRS was awarded 'Radio Station of the Year' as part of Swiss Radio Day for the biggest net listener increase in the French speaking region of Switzerland. In 2013 WRS also won five regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association for broadcast journalism for a small-market, international station. In September 2013 WRS was acquired by Anglo Media Group, owners of the previous web-only station, Radio Frontier. In 2021 WRS was acquired by SwissVille Broadcasting.
