About World Roma Federation
The World Roma Federation (WRF) is a globally active civil society and diplomatic organization in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC, and accredited by UNESCO and UNICEF. Our international mandate enables WRF to engage all UN Member States, including through direct coordination with Permanent Missions, Foreign Ministries, and UN bodies on issues of Roma rights, recognition, and representation. WRF is also a registered interest group at the European Parliament, with declared lobbyists engaged in Brussels and Strasbourg. Our team actively monitors and participates in EU legislative processes, civic consultations, and institutional dialogues — with particular focus on Charter-based accountability, anti-discrimination, and inclusive governance. Across all platforms, WRF grounds its work in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with special alignment to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). From the Balkans to the Americas, our organization supports municipal, national, and international partnerships that elevate Roma voices and embed equity in public policy. Mission Statement WRF exists to protect and advance the freedom, dignity, and full participation of Roma people everywhere — not as a minority, but as a diverse and stateless nation. We defend the right to self-determination, cultural continuity, and institutional inclusion on all continents. Our work affirms that equity must never require erasure, and that diversity is not an obstacle to democracy — it is its foundation. We envision a global society where power is shared, creativity is nurtured, and no community is silenced by poverty, exclusion, or conformity. WRF operates across the UN, EU, and civil society arenas to disperse institutional gatekeeping, build strategic alliances, and ensure that Roma communities shape the decisions that affect their futures.
