About WUTIS - Trading and Investment Society

The WUTIS – Trading and Investment Society has a primary vision, namely to raise financial awareness among students in Austria and to provide a strong recruitment portal for major investment firms. Competition in the financial service industry is very high. Especially in larger countries abroad such as in the U.S., Asia or even Germany, students are encouraged to become a part of a financial network or program in order to break into finance after their graduation. We experienced that students in Austria are extremely smart about theoretical financial concepts, however, there are few programs and networks accessible which makes it difficult for them to break into a top-tier bank or hedge fund. Luckily, investment firms strive to keep diversity high in their divisions and are deemed to recruit abroad, also in Austria. This is the opportunity for WUTIS. Our responsibility is to become the first contact point in Austria when it comes to recruiting and to inspire Austrian students to break into the financial service industry. Our members are encouraged to dive into the role of a real analyst by discussing market developments on a weekly basis, analyzing stocks and pitching investment ideas in a competitive environment, deal with complex financial concepts, learn the financial tools used in the financial service industry and become smart in the finance industry. In fact, to achieve this, members are given the opportunity to be engaged in one of our expert groups: Equity Research, Global Markets, and Algorithmic Trading. Finally, the student-managed ETF- and Equity-Portfolio as well as our interest in executing Trading Strategies complement our analysts' experience at WUTIS. Given the diverse background of our members, our strong alumni network and the focus on knowledge sharing, we are on the best way of becoming a student society consisting of smart people.
