About XLAM South Africa
CONTACT e: info@xlam.co.za c: 084 661 1095 XLAM SOUTH AFRICA Established in 2016, XLAM South Africa Is the first manufacturer of Cross Laminated Timber in Africa. The company produces CLT panels for the construction industry. Panels are manufactured using environmentally friendly glues and use locally sourced SA Pine and Eucalyptus from sustainable forestry. WHAT IS CROSS LAMINATED TIMBER? Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) is a wood panel typically consisting of three, five, or seven layers of dimension lumber oriented at right angles to one another and then glued to form structural panels with exceptional strength, dimensional stability, and rigidity. Lightweight yet very strong, with superior acoustic, fire, seismic, and thermal performance, CLT is also fast and easy to install, generating almost no waste onsite. CLT offers design flexibility and low environmental impacts. for these reasons, cross-laminated timber is proving to be a highly advantageous alternative to conventional materials like concrete, masonry, or steel, especially in multi-family and commercial construction. "South Africa is primed for the use of CLT. We have a very innovative building industry, great forestry and clientele who are forward thinking. With CLT we have the benefit of off-site manufacturing combined with a sustainable resource, making it very fast and accurate and environmentally conscience. CLT is part of a new wave of construction technologies which are set to shake up the building industry." Jamie Smily - Director XLAM South Africa
