Xsara Do My Hair is your go-to one-stop-shop for all curly hair essentials: from cuts and styling to knowledge, maintenance and the right products: we have everything your hair needs. Based on the vision of treating every different curl in its own way, to preserve health and boost your confidence. Our story starts in a small salon in The Netherlands, where a fourteen year old purple-haired girl called Romy Xsara, accidentally fell in love with the craft of doing hair. Feeling disappointed by the racism in the industry and in the knowledge provided in hairdressing school, Romy went on a quest of self-education. Growing up around many different cultures and people with different hair textures, resulted in an immense awareness of the troubles many people faced in accepting their natural hair. Feeling unable to grow in the salons, Romy decided it was time to create her own space in the hair industry. At the age of eighteen, she founded Xsara Do My Hair, where her friends walked to her small attic to take place as her first customers. By listening to the experiences of her curly haired friends and gaining experience by doing their hair, Romy quickly started to make a name for herself. ‘Whenever I would post my friends’ hair on social media, people would contact me about doing curly hair. It worked out so well I went from washing people’s hair in the sink next to my toilet, to renting a space in Amsterdam’. - Romy Xsara After all, it was fun working backstage at Fashion Week and learning how to style European textures, but what did that bring our CEO if she couldn’t even do her friends’ hair? It was essential for Romy to gain knowledge on different textures, curls and Black hair in particular. By trial and error she perfected her craft and soon began to understand that there is no such thing as one technique or method for working with curly and coily hair.
