About YANA Comox Valley
YANA (You Are Not Alone) is a registered charity that was started by Sandra Williams in 1986 after experiencing the financial and emotional devastation of having a very sick child who required treatment for many months in Vancouver. Since then, thousands of people have given time and money to ease the burden for Comox Valley families whose children require medical services away from home. YANA provides financial support and accommodation to ALL Comox Valley families who need to travel for medical treatment for a child under 19 or for a pregnant mother. Support is a phone call or email away for anyone whose answer is "YES" to 3 questions: 1 - Do you live within the Comox Valley School District 71 catchment? 2 - Do you have a child under 19 years old who requires medical care or are you a pregnant mother who requires medical care? 3 - Has a member of the child or pregnant mother's medical care team referred them to a location outside the Comox Valley to access the medical care they require? Yes, that's really it! Anyone answering "yes" to all 3 questions can quickly access support through the YANA Client Care team by calling 250-871-0343 or emailing info@yanacomoxvalley.com. YANA is almost exclusively funded through local fundraising events and generous personal or business donations. The lion share of the fundraising activities are made possible by YANA's energetic team of skilled volunteers.
