About YANA Foundation

Yana was set up as a spin off of the YANA Charitable Foundation (Liechtenstein) who has supported and guided our work in Romania during the past 25 years. By establishing several day-centers for children, YANA aims to alleviate some of the difficulties that vulnerable children face on a daily basis, due to circumstances out of their control: single parenthood, addictions, domestic violence, poverty, disability, parental joblessness. Many of these children risk family estrangement and school drop out, thus further narrowing down their chances to a better life. Today, in these day-centers, we cater to approx. 150 children through educational services, therapy, play, hot meals and cross-generational programs aimed at creating bonds between seniors and youngsters who thrive on each other's company and who have much to pass on and to learn from. We provide these services in partnership with the local administration in Nicolae Bălcescu and Mărgineni (including the local schools) as well as with other non-governmental organizations.
