The central vision and intention of the architectural team while conceptualising this masterplan was to create a community hub that seeks to invoke human emotion and atmosphere, reflects the unique identity of the surrounding area and inspires a sense of deeply human interdependance while still remaining honest and intergrated with the landscape. We are passionate about creating a space where a sense of community is the most prominent aspect; with an atmosphere that embraces many different people and subtly reflects their identity. The Island precinct is purposefully designed in a way that ensures it remains ergonomic and harmonious, but still allows each individual “zone” to maintain it’s own presence - from the Grand Stadia and Raised Concourse serving as the focal point and connecting circulation hub of the precinct, to the interconnected Luxury Hotels and Residential Skyhomes with viewing platforms to the Stadia and the whole precinct and anchored by the multi-functional Recreation Spaces, Sports Fields, Marina, Retail and Dining zones. The Island Precinct has the potential to generate immense local, national and international tourism opportunities while maintaining a connected community feel for the area - capitalising on the need for a facility between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Our design ensures that there will truly be something unique for everyone to enjoy, ensuring an environment which encourages multiple visits for a diverse demographic of people.
