About YES - Colchester & Tendring
Colchester & Tendring Youth Enquiry Service (YES) is an award-winning youth charity or We offer support, advice and one-to-one engagement on a range of issues including housing and homelessness, benefits, pregnancy and young parenting, mental health counselling and maintaining wellbeing. YES offers its support to all young people between the ages of 11 -25 in the North East Essex area. The YES team work collaboratively to support young people at a difficult time in their lives. We are passionate about helping young people reach a secure future and fulfil their potential. At YES we offer early intervention mental health support, often onsite in educational settings, so that the service is brought to the young people. Our Counselling and Wellbeing Team offer not only counselling, but also a listening ear in an informal setting from our Navigators, who offer a drop-in service to help young people navigate their way through day-to-day challenges. YES counsellors also provide a workshops targeting specialised support on Resilience or Bereavement in a group setting. We also offer some group activities to allow the young people to mix socially, supported by YES staff. Our housing team support young people seeking alternative housing due to a change in circumstances, including those who find themselves homeless. They help young people to access financial support and both short and long-term accommodation. Our young parenting team offer support to young women who become pregnant, help them work through their options and offer parenting advice and a chance to develop a support network through group activities with other young mothers and their babies. Many of the young people who seek support from YES access two or all three of our services, for example an unplanned pregnancy could require the young person to need housing advice and also mental health support, to help them find their way through this sudden change in their lives.
