About Yoga Dublin
Yoga Dublin was borne out of personal circumstances namely back pain that the owner, Colm Walsh, suffered with in his youth ! To try and alleviate this problem he began the practice of yoga in his late twenties. He found that yoga was the answer as it helped strengthen his core, improved his posture, and created flexibility that released tension in muscles, his back pain went!! He then noticed that stress reduced and better sleep patterns emerged after regular practice and classes. He gradually increased his yoga, did teacher trainings in ireland and abroad, began teaching, and then decided to open a dedicated space. That is pretty much how Yoga Dublin started 15 years ago when in 2003 he opened in a small lane in Ranelagh, one of the first couple studios in Dublin. Now there are perhaps 50! Colm found that people increasingly sought a holistic mental and physical wellness, that yoga, and also pilates can offer. Classes were added, with other teachers joining. An online booking system, and efficient client management systems offered easy class scheduling, great value memberships and the ability to expand. A second studio opened in Balally Luas station in 2009. The Ranelagh studio moved to a larger location in 2011. The programme has over time expanded, to include a diverse range of yoga, pilates, pre and post natal fitness, zumba, Tai Chi and workshops. There are about 80 classes and events per week across the two studios. Class passes and memberships are inter changeable in all venues.
