About You Can Do It
Crowd Funding Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be homeless? No roof over your head or a place to go to get your three meals a day. You should because it is real. Homeless ness is growing at an alarming rate with over 35% of the homeless population being families. What can be done about this alarming fact? Homelessness is a result of poor choices, an unfortunate illness, the loss of a job, or the incarceration of a supporting spouse. It could happen to anyone. When I moved to the Salt Lake City Area I became aware of these alarming facts and had a desire to get involved and do what I could. I was blessed with a position with a nonprofit Family Promise Salt Lake whose mission statement is ” Eliminating Family Homelessness On Family At A Time” With 23 years and over 800 families they have seen a 91% success rate in helping families learn self-reliant skills and develop long term sustainable lifestyles, stay housed, and have kept their operating expenses at 10%. As their director of events and fundraising we have been able to develop some exciting things to further this great work. It is now time for each of us to think hard about these realities that could affect any of us and probably has for some. You may ask, “Why should I help Salt Lake City?” Well another fact is that Salt Lake has the best conditions for the homeless and other cities are providing bus and train fare to get here to their homeless. Homelessness no matter where it is, is a problem for all. I am asking that you consider a donation of at least $100 - $500 to Family Promise. For those of you with more you can give more.
