You TELL Me Stories were created by educators and language experts to show you HOW to you read to your child in a way that stimulates conversation and builds listening, thinking and language skills. You TELL Me Stories are designed to engage and entertain while developing the listening, thinking and language skills needed to succeed in school and beyond! www.youtellmestories.org Using technology for tablets and smartphones, You TELL Me Stories (YTMS) has created a unique series of picture-book apps and print books that model how to read aloud dialogically, so that parents can help their children develop pre-literacy skills such as letter knowledge, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. To accomplish this, each YTMS picture-book app and print book supplies the adult reader with comments to make and questions to ask about the story as it proceeds. These interlocutions, known as WordWinks®, prompt the child to respond with comments and questions of his or her own, which is the essence of dialogic reading. WordWinks® makes it easy for any caregiver, no matter their educational level or fluency in English, to unlock the learning in a picture book. This helpful tool can accelerate language development at the time of greatest sustainable impact – birth to 5 years.
