About Young Africans Technology

Young Africans Technology is a non-profit coding academy founded in January 2021. We teach kids and teens how to code by building web apps, mobile apps, games, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Our curriculum includes Linux Terminal, Python, JavaScript, C++, Django, Flask, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Microbit and CuteBot, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, OpenCV, PyTorch, React Native, Pygame, HTML, CSS, Git and many more. We have a physical classroom in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, with 32 students per class. Additionally, we offer an online program for those outside Khayelitsha or Cape Town. Our online classes include students from South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Gabon, the USA, Germany, the UK, and Canada. All our instructors are volunteers from different countries, including the USA, South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Europe. We conduct our online classes via Google Meet, with groups of 10-15 students and 2-3 instructors per group. Each group attends two classes per week. In addition to the Google Meet live sessions, we offer an online course through our partnership with OpenEDG. Our students can study at their convenience, and we provide assistance whenever they face challenges. Thus, our teaching approach combines live sessions on Google Meet twice a week and the OpenEDG course. We also offer an accredited certificate through our partnership with OpenEDG.
