About Young Auditorium

Young Auditorium serves as a presenting organization for the performing arts and as an educational and cultural center enriching the lives of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus and regional communities. The auditorium is a state-of-the-art performance venue with 1,300 seats and a 400 square foot stage, presenting world class entertainment from Broadway’s best musicals to contemporary dance, World Music, theatre/drama performances, national and international music acts, comedy shows, seasonal specials, and dozens of family-friendly events each year. Every year, Young Auditorium also presents the Horizons School Matinee Series, which is an educational outreach program bringing touring national and international performing arts companies to the local stage for area K-12 schools to attend. The mission of the Horizons program is to support the curriculum of schools by providing culturally diverse programs for students and an opportunity for teachers to integrate the arts into their classrooms. Arts4All, a subsidy program, is available for schools with an economically disadvantaged population to help ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to benefit from the arts as part of their education. Several performance selections for the season are intended to enrich the learning experiences of college students as well. The UW-Whitewater Cultural Affairs Committee is dedicated to assisting in the selection of cultural, diverse, educational, and entertaining events at the auditorium for students and the community, and provides opportunities for student committee members to gain educational experiences in arts administration and management. Grants, memberships, sponsorship, partnerships, and individual ticket sales help support the mission of the Young Auditorium and all of its programming, which is centered upon sharing the arts with everyone and broadening horizons.
