About Young Science Achievers
YSA's mission is to provide students in under-served communities across the major New York and New Jersey metropolitan area with practical, meaningful research experience in order to motivate them to further education and possible careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). To accomplish this goal, YSA links science teachers and participating students with renowned professional researchers and scientists, from both industrial and academic laboratories and research centers, who in turn serve as mentors for funded student research projects in STEM. Each year, the program selects approximately 200 students and provides them with resources and a unique and rewarding experience. Students graduating from this program have gone on to attend major universities throughout the U.S. in pursuit of STEM careers.
