About Your Bike Club (Pty)

YBC, also known as Your Bike Club, was founded in 2019 by Sasha and her co-founder, Gaston Parker, in response to the high youth unemployment rate in South Africa, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the booming potential of the last-mile delivery industry, YBC leveraged this growing market to create opportunities for unemployed young people. The journey began with just two lives impacted. However, within three months, YBC had empowered over 50 riders with essential training, motorcycles, and safety gear. In just two years, YBC transformed the lives of over 250 riders, helping them become their own bosses, while collectively contributing over 1 million kilometers to the last-mile delivery sector. YBC has also been instrumental in helping major companies expand into township markets by providing the needed riders and motorcycles to bridge the delivery gap in these areas. In 2022, with the motorcycle industry becoming increasingly saturated, YBC once again saw an opportunity to innovate. YBC and its partners launched a comprehensive 16-week learnership program tailored to unemployed youth aged 18-35. This program not only provides essential business and personal development skills but also prepares candidates for the K53 learner’s license, giving them everything they need to thrive as mobility entrepreneurs. To date, YBC has trained over 200 candidates, with 70% of them being women, empowering them to break barriers and enter the delivery market. Additionally, YBC is piloting an exciting project at the university level, allowing students to take on delivery driving as a side hustle to support their education and earn extra income. At its core, YBC remains driven by its mission to reduce youth unemployment, foster entrepreneurship, and build a thriving community of mobility leaders. With a history of innovation, resilience, and a focus on impact, YBC is poised to continue reshaping the future of delivery services.
