About Yusuf Youth Initiative (YYI)
The Yusuf Youth Initiative (YYI) was set up in 2004 by a group of young enthusiasts who are driven by the desire to work for their community and improve their society. The group have undertaken a number of community projects on a local and national scale. It currently runs four core projects: Future Leaders Academy (FLA) : An after school holistic Islamic education progamme for five to 16 year olds which not only provides classroom style teaching of the Quran but further Arabic as a language, Islamic studies and finally incorporating all of these into practical life; life skills. YYI Youth Clubs : Our original venture, providing young boys and girls the service to get involved in fun activities on a weekly basis. The youth clubs were active before the charity was set up by the same core volunteers who are involved till date. Changemakers : A project to provide young adults with the core skills to get them ready for employment including CV workshops, interview training, volunteering and work placements. TaughtbyMuhammed (TBM) : Our newest and unfortunately growing project which provides local anti-poverty support to the community including a food bank which delivers the food to the door, bi-weekly curry kitchen for the homeless and single parents, weekly support cafe's, elders men club and supporting newly arrived Syrian families.
