About YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts
YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts was founded in 1911. The Mission of the YWCA speaks to the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women. The YWCA has undergone major changes nationally, regionally and locally, but it has continued to create opportunities for women’s growth leadership and power since its inception. The YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts is one of 300 local associations of the YWCA USA, incorporated individually and operated autonomously by a Board of Directors elected by the general membership. The Board of Directors and staff reflect the diversity of the area with a concentrated effort to have many locales served. YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts serves an area that stretches from the Rhode Island state line east to Provincetown, south to the Islands and north to Attleboro, Brockton and Plymouth. The YWCA helps women, girls and their families attain self-sufficiency by providing services to support the vast needs of people from numerous populations. While the special concerns of women provide the impetus for the YWCA services, many programs are open to everyone. The programs and services of the YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts are identified in five key areas--Advocacy, Adult Services, YWCA Health & Wellness, Residential Services and Youth Services.
