Autodidact with an innate sense and sharp eye for aesthetics, Annet van der Zalm has been working as an interior decorator and designer for over 25 years. ‘Ever since I was young, I felt called to warm up spaces, to lend my personal take to various environments. I started arranging flowers, collecting antiques, display design, and then I quickly found that my way of curating, putting everything together, really caught on.’ Other than that, the multifaceted creative also managed a great team for another interior agency for years. Now things have come full circle as she’s heading her design agency called Zalmstudios. Her decade-long expertise and experience garnered her a vast network and warm relationships with experts in the design field. ‘I have a clear vision in mind – my own and the client’s – and then know who to ask. I would say that’s one of my strong suits: connecting the dots, bringing the right people together.’ In doing so her approach is straightforward. ‘I very closely listen to a client, but of course, always stay true to my perspective.’ She’s honest, hands-on, and values hospitality. ‘It’s what this business should be all about.’
