About ZippyZen

At ZippyZen we build software that makes us feel good. We don't write accounting software or time management software. That stuff is boring. Instead, we tend to gravitate towards software projects that support causes such as charities, creative pursuits, and environmentally responsible enterprises. Our current flagship project is ZippyMeals, a software application that helps Meals on Wheels offices run their operations. Most Meals on Wheels offices run their operations using custom-made Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, but could really use a software application specifically designed for the way Meals on Wheels offices work. We originally thought someone else would have already done it. Turns out we were wrong, so we took on the project of creating a custom application built from the ground up with Meals on Wheels staff members' input all along the way. ZippyMeals helps Meals on Wheels directors manage and raise volunteers, deliver their meals cheaper and faster, and save their staff tons of time. Which should give each Meals on Wheels office a lot more time to focus on what's really important to them: people. ZippyMeals has been in use as a prototype by two Meals on Wheels offices in central Virginia for three years while we worked out all the kinks. We think we've got a pretty bang up product now and will be releasing a commercial version to the entire country in the fall of 2011. We can't wait and we think Meals on Wheels is going to love it!
