About ZO1 Architects

ZO1 is a progressive architectural practice, cofounded by Bonnie Chan and Derek Leung in 2020, with a desire to create responsible, sustainable, economically viable developments with creative design solutions. We believe in build-able architecture and place making focusing on end users experience. We are a strong advocate in designing sustainable communities with building standards that generate positive values for the environment, as demonstrated with our portfolio of works obtaining LEED and various municipalities' Green Standards. Our portfolio of work is diverse. We are currently working on a wide range of projects from low to high-rise to large-scale mixed use development. We are specialized in residential, senior living, long-term care, retail commercial, luxury hotel and office. Most of our projects are working directly with established developers or non-profit organization in the Greater Toronto Area. We treasure each opportunity to custom-tailor each client’s vision with the aesthetics and urban built form to their branding and fits the characters of its existing neighborhood. Our strength is to move a project from a hand sketch to built architecture. We strongly believe in the power of teamwork: that each member of the development process has something special to offer, and that every stakeholder, client, city official and consultant involved is a winner in this process. Bonnie’s and Derek’s works have been recognized with BILD, OHBA, Woodworks awards and the 2019 Queen’s Pick.
