About Zoos and Aquariums for a Neurodiverse Ecosystem- ZANE

ZANE aims to help institutions move from compliance to compassion and make all zoo and aquarium professionals feel welcome and ready to thrive in this industry . We both provide coaching, insight and perspective to institutions in their journey to be more inclusive as well as support individuals by connecting them to a shared community and helping them advocate for themselves. We do this by providing resources (webinar discussions, member resource drive, etc.), serving as a contact and confidential sounding board for any neurodiverse matters (consulting, personal discussions, etc), raising awareness (presentations, social media channels, etc.) and creating a network of self-advocates and allies (virtual get togethers, in-person events, etc.). What ZANE has to Offer: Promoting Inclusivity & Belonging: Neurodivergent perspectives are essential to enriching work environments and conservation efforts. The ZANE team provides lived experience and insight into how to effectively integrate inclusion for neurodiversity into this field. Empowerment Through Community: ZANE fosters supportive connections and amplifies self-advocate voices. We create a network where people can learn from and support each other. Fostering Guidance & Growth: ZANE’s resources, webinars and consulting equip institutions to become more accommodating and inclusive. We help them learn what they don't know and consider how neurodiversity shows up in their work and teams.
