Nemunas, a monthly magazine on culture and art, launched in Kaunas in 1967, was addressed to young people in Lithuania and distinguished itself from other periodicals by its unusual square shape; the cover of its first issue was adorned with a portrait of the famous actress Gražina Balandytė. Today, Nemunas has kept some of its style features, such as the square shape and the tradition of the cover hero. Its content is targeted at the youthful-minded person seeking to deepen his/her knowledge of cultural phenomena and personalities. The journal is of excellent typographic quality and contains a wide range of original creations and publications on art, architecture, theatre, cinema, dance, literature, photography, etc. "Nemunas" team likes to experiment and sometimes shock its readers: the magazine has published a short story written in emoticons, a short prose "created" by artificial intelligence, and photos and illustrations generated by AI, as well as literary research, fiction texts in infographic format, etc. For the first time in the history of Lithuanian cultural journalism, the magazine published an interview with a chatbot "ChatGPT". "Nemunas is not a newspaper, but a book or an album - there is no short-term information, no descriptions of one-day events, so the content presenting personalities, their works, and phenomena of the cultural world will be interesting for decades. The magazine is available in shopping centers, libraries, bookshops, art galleries, airports, and ferries in Lithuania. It is subscribed to not only by individual readers but also by cultural, artistic, and commercial institutions. The magazine is distributed not only in Lithuania but also sent to subscribers abroad: to the USA, Great Britain, Norway, France, Germany, and other countries around the world.
