At Adelaide Private we pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of patient-centered care. Our five Colorectal surgeons: Andrew Hunter, Mark Lewis, Michelle Thomas, Tarik Sammour, and Ryash Vather are all accredited by the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and are Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). Our two Upper Gastrointestinal / Hepatobiliary surgeons: Harsh Kanhere and Markus Trochsler have dedicated training in complex malignancy and bariatrics and are also Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). All our surgeons have undergone further subspecialist training in colorectal, oesophagogastric, or hepatobiliary surgery at some of the highest calibre units internationally including: MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston), Memorial Sloan Kettering (New York), and Guys & St Thomas Hospitals (London), and St Marks Hospital (London). All surgeons also have substantive staff specialist appointments at The Royal Adelaide Hospital that see them hold key clinical, organisational and academic leadership positions. The ability to work closely across the public and private sectors fosters a highly collegiate environment, comprehensive multi-disciplinary care with 24/7 cover, and flexibility for complex presentations. Their close affiliation with the University of Adelaide, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), and UniSA's Centre for Cancer Biology fosters a vibrant academic environment that informs practice and allows access to cutting edge research and technology to improve patient care.
