About African Community Services of Peel
African Community Services (ACS) is a registered not-for-profit community based charitable agency that provides newcomer settlement services to the Black/African community in Peel Region and the surrounding areas. Established in 1993, ACS has developed extensive experience and capacity to provide effective, confidential and culturally relevant programs that serve the settlement and integration needs of newcomers, immigrants, refugees, women, youth, seniors, and children from the Black/African community. The goal is to advance opportunities for continuous improvement and committed to leveraging the broad experience of our staff, the board of directors, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the delivery of effective, accountable, and transparent services to our constituent community. The agency’s mission is to improve the quality of life of the newcomer community in Peel by providing them with the support, information and services necessary for healthy integration into Canadian society. The mandate of African Community Services of Peel is to identify and address the challenges associated with the duality of cultures among newcomers, provide programs and services that promote cross-cultural understanding and address barriers to communication, integration, and access, facilitate opportunities for self-development among newcomers and network with other service providers with similar goals and objectives
