About Angel in a Hummer & HEART Foundation

Rena Salomon, also known as “The Angel in a Hummer”, comes with over 30 years of humanitarian work experience. Born in Amman, Jordan; at the age of three, her family decided to immigrate to The United States for a better life. They settled in California and her parents became restaurant entrepreneurs, specializing in Middle-Eastern cuisine. During her adolescent years, Rena would help her parents with the family business. Her parents instilled the importance of hard work, dedication and discipline early on, which shaped her to become a successful business woman. In 1986, Rena’s four-year old son was diagnosed with cancer. The devastating news brought Rena to her knees and she began to pray to her heavenly father; “Father in heaven, if you save my son and free him of his cancer, I promise to dedicate my life saving your children”. For the last thirty-two years, she has devoted her life to helping and serving humanity, with her son free of cancer along her side. Throughout the years, Rena has taken in over twenty children, raised them as her own; provided shelter, medical care, schooling, drug addiction rehabilitation, and therapy, as well as arranged interim housing to families who have encountered chronic illness and hardship. Many of the children that she took in were high risk, who had experienced trauma and severe abuse. In addition, she works with local law enforcement and private investigators on high profile missing children cases, offering Specialized Search and Rescue (SAR), cadaver recovery K-9 units, and funding. She earned the nickname, “The Angel in a Hummer”, during the 2005 devastation of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rena and her team were responsible for rescuing over 125 victims and brought fourteen families back to California to live with her and her family who had lost everything. In 2010, she founded H.E.A.R.T., Humanitarian Emergency Aid Response Team.
