About Aurelian Oil and Gas

Aurelian was founded in 2002 to explore for hydrocarbons in Central Europe in particular the Carpathian thrust zones of Poland and Romania. Oil has been produced in this area since the early 1850's when the invention of the kerosene lamp in Poland spurred the demand for oil. Although a number of world class fields have been discovered, there has been little exploration at depth and little use of modern seismic. Licences are held in Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria. Please note that Aurelian Oil & Gas was taken over in 2013 by San Leon Energy plc, and no longer exists as an operating company.
