Registered CRA Charity: 727646317 Balance Empower Action and Movement for Alberta Youth Foundation BEAM is a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to influencing the healthy development of kids & youth through yoga. Our mission is to provide accessible & affordable yoga programming to children who are sick, recovering, have Special Needs, or who come from low-income backgrounds. We do this by partnering with local organizations such as The Alberta Children’s Hospital, Inn from the Cold, Wood’s Homes, and The Boys & Girls Club of Calgary to provide free yoga programming and opportunities that empower youth to reach their highest potential. Since 2012, we have provided over 800 hours of free yoga programming for schools, organizations, and healthcare facilities that support kids and teens. Our organization is innovative in that we are taking an upstream approach to health by starting with today’s youth. Yoga is more than just a class- through our programming we are able to connect with students, teach them healthy coping mechanisms through breathing, meditation, mindfulness and movement, and provide a supportive environment. We want to leave a positive impact on our generation, and future generations to come by planting the seeds of growth and inspiring kids to become strong, self-aware, and community-oriented individuals. Our programs are designed to get kids moving and facilitate connection, whilst also teaching children and teens valuable lessons that will impact them for the rest of their lives. We work with pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, aides, and behavioral therapists (in addition to our wonderful team of yoga instructors). In collaboration with these professionals, we have created yoga programs designed to engage and empower children and teens of all ages.
