About Below 100
Below 100 is a law enforcement safety initiative aimed at reducing line-of-duty deaths to fewer than 100 annually, a goal that has not been achieved since 1943. The program focuses on changing officer behavior and organizational culture to emphasize safety and accountability. Below 100 provides training and practical strategies centered on five key tenets: Wear Your Belt - Encouraging consistent use of seat belts to prevent fatalities in traffic accidents. Wear Your Vest - Promoting the use of ballistic vests, and safety vests, to protect officers in dangerous situations. Watch Your Speed - Emphasizing safe driving practices to reduce risks during pursuits or responses. WIN: What’s Important Now? - Encouraging officers to prioritize decision-making in high-stress situations. Remember: Complacency Kills - Reinforcing the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive in all aspects of duty. Below 100 began in 2010 as an idea shared among law enforcement trainers and writers at the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA). It grew into a worldwide movement with thousands of trainers delivering its message to agencies across the globe. The program seeks to save lives by influencing training, policies, and everyday practices in law enforcement.
