About BiodivEarth

The BiodivEarth association is a not-for-profit organization created and based in Switzerland. Its vision is a world where human societies and nature thrive, nurturing one another in a respectful and sustainable manner. Its mission consists in accelerating the delivery of existing conservation efforts and initiatives towards halting then reversing biodiversity loss, with a medium-term objective of contributing to the 2030 CBD targets. Building Resilience in High Biodiversity Areas for Nature and People Without resilience, all conservation efforts will be in vain. The first project of BiodivEarth aims at fostering the resilience of effective conservation models implemented in high biodiversity areas. The project has a global focus and applies to both marine and terrestrial areas. It will be delivered through the creation and facilitation of a Community of Practice gathering stewards of efficiently managed high biodiversity areas. The project articulates around three axes: 1. Promoting understanding of the multidimensional nature of resilience and providing a practical index for measuring resilience locally and monitoring its variation globally. 2. Developing and facilitating a Community of Practice made up of stewards of well-managed high biodiversity areas to boost their resilience through increased visibility, exchange of know-how, and scaling up of successful management models. 3. Retrofitting resilience into existing successful models and initiatives by diagnosing gaps of resilience and promoting the development of solutions. This project is funded for the next three years by the Fondation Hoffmann.
