About Building Better Lives

Launched by the Summer Foundation in March 2009, the key goal of the Building Better Lives campaign is to address the chronic social exclusion of young people with disability living in nursing homes. Building Better Lives is raising awareness and garnering support from the public and corporate sector, in order to realise an integrated housing model for young people with disability. This supported housing model will be the first of its kind in Australia to provide truly integrated housing, where people with disability live in their own apartments peppered throughout a larger residential development with other members of the community. This is a critical step towards the social inclusion of people with disability.
