About buildingSMART Australasia

buildingSMART Australasia is the Australasian Chapter of buildingSMART, an International Standards Organisation that develops and promotes the use of product standards and processes for collaboration in the construction industry. We want to produce much better buildings! Buildings that the community values, that meet real needs, that perform better, that impact the environment less, that take less time and money to build and to use. To meet all these goals, we need better processes, better collaboration, better tools. We are promoting technologies and processes that promise better across-the-board outcomes. BuildingSmart drives industry uptake of these technologies, providing promotion, implementation, and training programs, as distinct from the technical standards development work of the International Alliance for Interoperability.
