About C2K
C2k is responsible for the provision of an information and communications technology (ICT) managed service to all schools in Northern Ireland. C2k delivers to schools high quality, sustainable infrastructure, connectivity and resources which meet strategic targets. Grant-aided schools receive, at no cost to themselves, a core entitlement, based on pupil numbers, including: •an infrastructure 65,000+ desktops and laptops connected to the Internet and linked to legacy systems; •access to a wide range of content and services to support the Northern Ireland Curriculum and the professional development of teachers; •an integrated suite of services for school administration and management •connection of schools' networks into a single education network across Northern Ireland, with tools to facilitate the development of on-line teaching and learning •full service support through a central help desk •a flexible online learning environment called LearningNI which supports a range of pedagogical models allowing teachers to blend diverse learning models to a range of learning styles •a library of digital resources in LearningNI licensed from educational publishers and customised to the revised Northern Ireland Curriculum. •a secure online communications environment for all schools in Northern Ireland providing up-to-date information on C2k services and events called C2k Exchange
