About Cambridge University Railway Club (CURC)
Founded in 1911 from the Cambridge University branch of The Railway Club, Cambridge University Railway Club (CURC) is the second oldest railway enthusiast club in the world. Today its members’ interests cover the whole of the railway scene, both in Britain and throughout the world. The club is primarily run by students and staff of the University of Cambridge. The club is not all about train talk, but a direct pathway to potential graduate employers, and we have a celebrated history of CURC alumni who now work at the most senior levels within the industry. The CURC tries to arrange an event in Cambridge every week during Full Term, with at least one event holding a Member’s Formal to allow the conversation continue with the speaker over dinner. On most occasions this involves an invited speaker giving an illustrated talk on a specific subject, and this is almost always a professional from within the rail industry or preservation. We are one of the few students railway societies in the United Kingdom, and we would like to build up more relationships. Please do get in touch if you wish to find out more. The club would like to maintain a good relationship with all members, and we would love to hear from any current and graduated members of the club.
