Knox Educational Associates is a unique full service consulting agency providing teacher training, classroom modeling of concepts, site assessments and data analysis for action planning, administrator coaching, and materials publication. With a twelve-year history of documented success, the Knox associates are part of the new kind of professional development needed to make positive change a reality and student achievement a reliably attained goal. Charlotte Knox, owner and director of the agency, has brought together a creative force of educators. These associates each bring discrete expertise to school and district support. Using the Strategic Schooling approach designed and authored by Dennis Parker, the associates help faculties establish targets, provide feedback, and develop the know-how to manage any circumstance blocking student learning. The evidence that Knox Educational Associates training, coaching, strategies and intervention work is successful is anchored in the growth points earned at the agency’s sites for the Academic Performance Index (see results). In 2006, the average API gain was seventy-five points in the five sites at which Knox associates worked comprehensively (ten days or more) for the school year. Another eight schools and districts utilized the consulting agency for specific instructional or systemic targets. Writing, test taking strategies, data analyses, and English language learner instruction were the most common professional development services provided. Knox associates recognize that all students can learn at high levels if teachers develop quality relationships with each student, guide instruction with data, use research based best practices with fidelity, and allow students to make choices that matter using their voices that deserve to be heard.
