About Christian International
Christian International, Ltd. was an oilfield services company in Libya that provided workover, well servicing, and completions services to the Libyan National Oil Company (NOC). The company was formed by Ray E. Christian in 1966 to drill the Kufra Water Development Project for the predecessor to the Great Man Made River Authority. In 1970, Christian was awarded its first contract in Libya's oil sector, and moved personnel and equipment into the Sahara Desert to provide well services to the Oasis Group, a consortium of companies consisting of Marathon, Amerada Hess, ConocoPhillips, and NOC. Christian went on to provide services to Sirte, AGOCO, Zueitina, Harouge, and Waha Oil Companies, in addition to numerous international oil companies (IOCs) and contractors with operations in Libya. Christian conducted 24-hour operations in Libya for more than four decades, offering drilling, completion, and production services, as well as technical and engineering services, to Libya's National Oil Company. In 2011, the company ceased operations after the Arab Spring led to civil unrest in Libya, and the subsequent 17 February Revolution. The Christian family sold the company in 2013 and has no ownership or affiliation with any company in Libya operating under the "Christian" trade name.
