Community Market is a social enterprise. It provides a more efficient and expanded way, to convert goods into cash for worthy causes. Eighty percent of the sale value goes directly to the nominated community. Fifteen percent goes to sponsor other communities, through the Community Sponsorship fund and is used to grow the project. Five percent goes to the company. Community Market is essentially an online local classifieds where you list items you no longer need and the proceeds go to your favourite community group, club or cause. Every worthy community can have their own online Op Shop, as well as access to Community Sponsorship funding. Op Shops are free to set up and highly efficient to administer. We have over 140 groups listed, but community members can nominate ANY charity or community group to receive their contribution. The Community Sponsorship Program has three primary aims: 1. To establish a network that harnesses the support of community members and the wider business community, to expand the revenue and resources available to all communities. 2. To create a national register of donated items, available on-call to local community organisations to assist those in need, both day-to-day and in times of crisis. 3. To introduce a new online supply channel for donated goods, enabling Australia’s communities and not-for-profit sector to gain access to the $30 billion online second hand goods market.
