About Community Overdose Response and Recovery Effort

The mission of CORRE is to educate the community to safely assess an opioid overdose and equip individuals with naloxone kits/training to create a community ready to respond. We are currently developing a phone application and wearable device to indirectly measure respiratory distress, send an alert with GPS location to a registered app user, and anonymously call emergency services necessary for continued care. Since 2021, CORRE members host free educational pop-up events around the history and policy of opioid use in communities and evidence-based methods to assess and reverse overdose particularly highlighting the use of the opioid overdose reversal medication Narcan/naloxone. We have trained well over 100 individuals from many Galveston organizations including the UTMB, TAMUG, the Teen Health Center, Galveston Urban Ministries and many more.
