About Compost Carpool Food Project

At Compost Carpool Food Project, our mission is simple yet powerful: to fight hunger, reduce food waste, and protect the planet, one rescued meal at a time. Every year, millions of pounds of edible food are thrown away while countless families go hungry. We exist to change that narrative by connecting surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, and other businesses with nonprofits and organizations that serve those in need across North Texas. Through our innovative food rescue app, we make it easy for food donors to quickly and safely divert excess food to local nonprofits rather than sending it to landfills. With just a few clicks, volunteers, our “food rescue heroes”, are matched with pick-ups and deliveries that ensure perfectly good food is put to its best use: feeding people. But we don’t stop at food rescue. We also believe in creating a full-circle solution to waste. Food that can no longer be consumed is diverted from the trash and transformed into a nutrient-rich soil amendment through Compost Carpool, our sister program. This approach not only feeds our community but also enriches the soil, reduces methane emissions, and creates a healthier environment for future generations. We are passionate about building partnerships with businesses, local organizations, and community members who share our vision of sustainability and compassion. Whether you’re a donor with surplus food, a nonprofit in need of supplies, or a volunteer looking to make an impact, there’s a place for you in our mission. Together, we can bridge the gap between waste and want, ensuring no good food goes to waste while fostering a stronger, more resilient community. Every pound of food we rescue is a step closer to a future where hunger is reduced, waste is minimized, and sustainability is a way of life.
