About Doctors Against Animal Experiments (DAAE)

“Medical progress is important – animal experiments are the wrong way!” — Under this motto, Doctors Against Animal Experiments (DAAE) has been campaigning for an animal-free medicine since 1979. We support research focused on the causes and prevention of diseases using modern research methods, e.g., human cell cultures and organs-on-chips. Our goal is to phase out all animal experiments in favour of ethically justifiable, human-oriented medicine and science, gaining relevant results through modern, animal-free test methods. • We organize scientific lectures & international congresses. • We award the Herbert Stiller Research Grant & actively promote animal-free research. • With our NAT Database (Non-Animal Technologies), we demonstrate how research can be conducted without animal experiments. • We document details of animal experiments carried out in Germany in our Animal Experiments Database. • Through our political work, we influence legislation at the federal and EU level. • We are an active member of the Eurogroup for Animals & the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE). • Our information material provides well-founded evidence for the futility of research based on animal experiments. • We make our arguments accessible to a broad public through campaigns and events. • The quarterly DAAE-Journal (print & online) offers up-to-date information on relevant topics • Our working groups are active throughout Germany, participating in information stands and campaigns. • Our “Youth Project” helps us engage with the younger generations. • With our “Eastern Europe Projects”, we support universities in the countries of the former Soviet Union that want to replace animal experiments with computer simulations and thus directly save countless animal lives.
