ELC LONDON STREET, an officially Premier accredited school by ASIC ( Accreditation Service for International Schools) in Britain, was established in 1973 by Mr Séan Mc Burney. It swiftly gained a reputation for innovation and quality. For over 40 years, ELC has been instrumental in aiding thousands of students to advance their English skills for work and study, and to gain confidence in the English language. Our Reading location has educated students from over 50 nationalities, fostering a truly international network of former students. As a medium-sized school, we pride ourselves on offering a friendly, personalised service. Our diverse course offerings encompass general Intensive English and Flexible English, examination preparation, group and individual tuition, and Business English and English for Special Purposes. Our teaching staff are highly skilled, and we provide a comprehensive range of services designed to make your learning journey with us both rewarding and enjoyable. Rather than using a set class book for each level, we provide handouts and photocopies of assigned work. This approach allows for a broad range of teaching materials to be utilised. Students need not bring any materials to class, as ELC provides all necessary resources for general English studies. We place particular emphasis on listening exercises, oral summaries, vocabulary and expression expansion, pronunciation correction, and building confidence in speaking.
