About Emirates Waste to Energy
The Emirates Waste to Energy Company (EWTE) is the joint venture of BEEAH, the Middle East’s sustainability & digital expert, and Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company. With cutting-edge innovation and large-scale waste-to-energy projects, EWTE is supporting global clean energy transition, enabling zero-waste diversion, and crossing new milestones to deliver on national and global net-zero goals. The company's flagship project, the Sharjah Waste to Energy Facility, was inaugurated in May 2022, and has set a new blueprint for the future as the first of its kind in the UAE. At full capacity, the plant diverts 300,000 tonnes of waste away from landfill annually, to produce 30 MW of clean energy; and has helped Sharjah to achieve 90% waste diversion, the highest in the Middle East. EWTE is working closely with regional and international partners to establish waste-to-energy projects across different countries, paving the way for a clean energy future for all.
