About Engineers Club of Baltimore
One-Hundred years ago, the founders conceived their first organization, then known as the Engineers Club of Baltimore, in the aftermath of the great Baltimore fire. They saw a need to coordinate the plans and activities of the engineers involved in rebuilding the city. Today, after several shifts in headquarters, the Club occupies the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion on Mount Vernon Place, which the members have been restoring to its previous elegance and status. Engineering has become more specialized over the years, lending added incentive to the Club, whose primary purpose is the same today as it was 100 years ago—to provide a social forum for the exchange of ideas among professionals of varied disciplines. Our Mission Statement:: Founded in 1905, The Engineers Club of Baltimore exists to bring together the region's successful and aspiring professionals from all disciplines to engage in social and business interaction within the gracious and historic ambiance of the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion. The mission of the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion Endowment Fund is to preserve and restore the Mansion as a National Historic Landmark and to share the history, architectural and civic legacy of the Mansion for the benefit and education of the public. The Engineering Society of Baltimore Education Foundation provides low-cost loans and scholarships to student that are enrolled in a Maryland college engineering program. Awards are made annually based primarily on scholastic achievement.
